About the Process & Design

Olive wood

The olive tree, central to Tunisian agriculture and mythology, yields high-quality wood through annual pruning. Tinja upcycles this surplus, bringing new value to this otherwise discarded material. Renowned for its durability, olive wood’s density allows Tinja to craft sturdy, resilient furniture, with the tree’s natural twists inspiring rhythmic, graphic designs.

Sea rush

Sea rush, a traditional material from Tunisia, is gathered from Mediterranean shores and southern plains, then dried and woven. Tinja reimagines this classic craft by creating modern designs that showcase rush’s versatility. The golden light and striking shadows from the rush add warmth and vibrancy to any space.
