I’m Heather Barnes, and for 6 years, I worked at the United Nations to support small-scale producers and designers in accessing new markets.
I met artisans whose traditional methods and beautiful designs were rooted in community and sustainability. I saw how access to decent work opportunities positively impacted livelihoods and communities, and how timeless crafts naturally embrace a slower, more thoughtful production process that respects the environment.
